Initially Nandini rejects his request but later she also falls in love with him. Now Abhi try to put efforts to convince the parents of Nandini, but he realizes that he is too late. Whether he succeeded in love or not? Forms the rest of the story. Casting Performances: Vinay who was seen earlier in a dubbed film titled Neevalle Nevalle made his debut in Telugu through Vaana. He looked smart and did full justice to what the role offered him. His expressions need little bit perfection. He is good. Meera Chopra is ok as female lead. Ajay did a short role as villain in the film. He is very good. Suman did well as father of heroine who is an ex-military officer. Others: Dharmavarapu Subramanyam and Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao generated some amount of humor in first half. Seetha, Naresh and Jayasudha are fair enough. Prabhudeva and Sunil appeared in first song “vunnatta lenatta”. Others chipped in. TECHNICAL ASPECTS Story - Screenplay & Direction: The film is a remake of Kannada’s super hit film Mungaru Malai. The basic story is a love story. MS Raju handled the first half well but the second facet of the film is not carried in the same vein particularly the climax. He uses an old fashioned and time-tested style in narrating the film. He had a good taste of capturing beautiful locations. Screenplay is average. Direction is good at parts. Other Departments: Kamalakar’s music of the film is very good. MS Raju extracted such a soulful music from Kamalakar for this film. Almost all numbers are melodious. Dialogues by Paruchuri Brothers are mediocre. Hero’s philosophical dialogues towards climax are tedious. Photography work by Sekhar V Joseph is impressive. All the songs are picturised well. Editing has to be crispier in the second half. Art work by Rajeev is fine. Production values by Sumanth Arts are of high standards. Analysis: First half of the movie is smooth. The graph in the second half got down which is stuffed with lot of melodrama and it appears boring towards climax. Neat photography, melodious music and pleasant outdoor locations are positive points of the film. There is no much comedy in second half. Climax is big weakling. MS Raju tried to present a feel-good pleasant film with a story that is time-tested one but it went wrong. We have to wait and see how the audience likes the film. Overall, Vaana fares just an average film. |
