![]() About Our Rating Storyline: Right (Srikanth) is an orphan and a loyal follower of local mafia don, Khasim Bhai (Pradeep Rawat). Right executes the illegal activities which Khasim Bhai orders him to do. Once Right disputes with Khasim Bhai which leads to assassination of Khasim Bhai’s son Nasser (Jeeva). Khasim Bhai aims to take revenge on Right and kills his close friend (Ajay). Ajay while ending his life takes the word from Right to stop all the rowdism from now on, which Right obeys and surrenders himself to ACP VJ Chowdary (Jagapathi Babu). How all ends form the rest of the story. Casting Performances: Srikanth did another mass role and suited to the character played. He is extremely good in confrontation scenes with villain in first half. His dialogue delivery has improved by leaps and bounds. Kaveri Jha is adequate in the role of heroine but her role is limited to songs and couple of scenes in the film. She exposed liberally in the beach song. Jagapathi Babu is good in the role of an honest cop and looked stylish. Others: Ajay is pretty good as an associate to Srikanth. Pradeep Rawath is perfect as main villain. Kalabhavan Mani did well to his role. Raghu Babu’s parallel comedy track is nagging. Ali appeared in couple of scenes as a drunkard and evoked good laughter. Veteran actress Manisha Koirala did an item number towards climax. TECHNICAL ASPECTS Story - Screenplay & Direction: Story of the film is very thin. Screenplay is not up to the mark. Debutant director tried to bank on a typical commercial potboiler but failed to impress the audience. However he succeeded in canning action sequences. Direction is mediocre. Overall it’s a run of the mill effort from the debutant. Other Departments: Music by Chakri is average. Camerawork by Sharath is ok where he used ultra-motion camera for action sequences. Dialogues are adequate although there are some unwanted dialogues in the film such as Dharmavarapu’s dialogues in a scene with his wife. Stunts by Ram-Laxman is the stand out of the film. Editing by Gautham Raju is not crispy. Production values are good. Analysis: First half of the film is mediocre. Second half is bad. Parallel comedy track by Raghu Babu tests the patience of audience. The positive points of the film are Srikanth’s performance and action sequences. On the flip side, weak story, bad screenplay and mediocre direction let the movie down. The film is high on violence and less on entertainment values. Even though debutant director CC Srinivas’s taking is stylish; it’s a poor effort by him considering his routine script. Overall, Nagaram is a big disappointment. |
